Bipolar disorder / manic depression

Most people with this condition will have extreme mood swings between feeling very depressed and extremely happy, sometimes with periods of calm in between. About one in 100 people are affected at some point in their lives and both men and women are equally represented. Many factors interacts to the emergence of this disorder but the most common is a genetic biological vulnerability. The condition usually starts in the age between 15 and 25. Bipolar disorder is usually treated with medicines that stabilizes the emotions. The medication is long-term and profylactic.
